SPECIAL BOARD MEETING WAKITA BOARD OF EDUCATION FEBRUARY 22, 2011 WAKITA LIBRARY CENTER 200 S. SPRUCE, WAKITA, OKLAHOMA 7:00 P.M.
The Wakita Board of Education met in special session on February 22nd, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Members present were Mary Elliott, Jerry Biby, and Dr. Nevaleen Joy Selmat. Steve Lamb was absent. President Mary Elliott called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance. President Mary Elliott swore in Beth Hendrick as a new Board member for office number 1. During re-organization of the Board Mary Elliott and Lee Roberts were nominated for Board President. Elliott had 3 votes and Roberts had 1. Mary Elliott was voted President. Dr. Nevaleen Joy Selmat was nominated for Vice President by Jerry Biby vote: 4 -0 motion carried Beth Hendrick was nominated by Lee Roberts to be Board Clerk vote: 4 – 0 motion carried. Biby moved and Selmat seconded to stop the meeting at 7:06 and re-convene in the gym vote: 5 -0 motioned carried. Biby moved and Selmat seconded to re-convene into session at 7:15 vote: 5 – 0 motion carried Discussion was held with Medford Board of Education on consolidation and annexation, co-oping sports, sharing resources, and other topics of interest. No votes were taken. Biby moved and Hendrick seconded to adjourn at 8:13 vote 5 – 0 motion carried.
